Who was Angel when he was human?

Angel was born Liam (surname unknown) into a moderately wealthy Galway family in 1727. His father was extremely strict, and he rebelled, becoming a ne'er-do-well layabout.

In 1753, at the age of 26, after a heated dispute with his father, Liam renounced his family and left home.

Soon afterwards, Darla, a mate-seeking female vampire, caught his eye. When she first approached him, he was on his way to steal silver from his father to spend on a woman, and she seduced him all too easily.

With her bite, Liam was granted eternal life as a vampire, and sired into the historical lineage of the Order of Aurelius.
