Kendra

Very little was known about Kendra. Her accent suggested a background on a British, or formerly British, Carribbean island, but her homeland was never defined by name. However, her people are aware of vampires, as Kendra's parents knew that she was destined to become a Slayer, and sent her to be trained with her Watcher, Sam Zabuto, at a very early age.

Kendra's training was much more traditional than that which Buffy had - she was given 'The Slayer's Handbook', which Buffy had never heard of, and she worked in less overt ways than Buffy, including hitching a ride from her home to Sunnydale in a cargo hold rather than travelling openly in an airline seat. Her life until her calling was very cloistered, with no friends or family (and she didn't hug), and her manner of living was very Spartan. Her one concession to whimsy was to name her favourite stake "Mr. Pointy".

Kendra was activated as a Slayer after Buffy's death at the hands of the Master (see 1.12 - "Prophecy Girl"). When Spike found the du Lac manuscript and the key to deciphering it, signalling that he was about to attempt to revive Drusilla, Zabuto sent Kendra to Sunnydale.

After helping Buffy stop Spike and Drusilla, Kendra returned home, coming back to Sunnydale when Angel stole Acathla's sarcophagus to provide Buffy with a sword that would help her defeat the Demon, and was killed by Drusilla (see 2.21,"Becoming, Part 1") while trying to protect the Slayerettes.

Kendra was played by Bianca Lawson.
